Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is a continuation of the previous films of the series. At first it was planned that the director’s chair would be occupied by Colin Trevorrow. He planned to start filming in 2017. And through creative disagreements with the producers, Trevorrow left the project. The director of the film agreed to JJ Abrams, who already took part in the work on the space saga, removing the seventh episode. With the advent of the new director, the filming start date was postponed – they started in the summer of 2018. One of the key actresses Daisy Ridley said that she plans to leave the project after filming in the ninth episode. As originally conceived by George Lucas, the saga should include nine films. However, the producers of the project shared plans to work on a continuation. They want to shoot another trilogy, but neither the release dates nor the storylines are yet known.
